We are the only Village in the Northwest Territories and we are proud of our unique small-town status. Our smaller size (pop. 1250) means that we really do notice travellers. We want to make your visit a memorable one. Whether you have come to experience the Dene culture, witness the terrifying rumble of Virginia Falls (Náįlįcho), or slip a canoe into the mighty Mackenzie River (the Dene name is Dehcho which means Big River), our businesses and people are ready to accommodate your needs.

At the end of the day retreat to your private apartment where you can prepare your favourite meal in a full kitchen. Watch a movie in the cozy living room or just relax with a book. If you are here for vacation, you will find that Fort Simpson has many adventures and attractions to suit any traveler's energy level.

• Fly with one of our local airlines to Nahanni National Park and experience Virginia Falls, Little Doctor Lake, the Tufa Mounds, Ram Plateau, the Cirque of the Unclimbables (featured as a backdrop in Star Trek Beyond)
• Have a local guide take you for a walking tour to see some of our historical sights like: McPherson House, Albert Failey's Cabin, The oldest barn in Northwest Territories, the Arbour, the tallest wooden teepee in North America (built by TV's Timber Kings) to replace the historic teepee erected for Pope Jean Paul II in 1984.

The Village also has the only Splash Park in Northwest Territories, playgrounds, ball fields, an amazing walking trail which has a floating bridge and a lookout at the top of the ski hill that was built by TV's Timber Kings. You may want to check out the 9 hole golf course, the swimming pool or the fitness centre. Fort Simpson also has 2 beaches if you want to cool down in the river.

For folks who are traveling with pets the Village has the biggest and best dog park in Northwest Territories and a boarding kennel for cats, dogs and other critters that you may be traveling with.
